Mobility

From 2019 to the beginning of 2020, the Studierendenwerk was a participant in the advisory programme "Südhessen effizient mobil"- for more sustainable company mobility. In various thematic workshops, we learned about possibilities for action and practical examples, like the possibilities of e-mobility and bicycle promotion. This consultation resulted in a plan of action for the Studierendenwerk, which includes the implementation of a mobility day with cycle route planning and bicycle tests. Due to the pandemic, we had to postpone that event until 2021.

The plan also includes expanding the use of company bicycles and, if possible, reducing the size of the company's own vehicle fleet. The switch to car-sharing models is also one of our plans. Up to now, a fleet of four electric vans has been in use by the Studierendenwerk internal craftsmen's service, which are available for errands. The e-vehicles drive with electricity from renewable sources via their own charging stations at the Stadtmitte and Lichtwiese refectories.

In addition, an e-load bike is available to the craftsmen's service and employees at the Stadtmitte and Lichtwiese sites each have access to a Pedelec. In addition, all employees in our organisation have received an attractive job ticket since 2013.
