Social Counselling

We offer help and support with social, personal and financial questions and concerns. For example, visa and workers’ rights, tips for jobs searching, health insurance, financial problems, accommodation, contacts to other students, language difficulties, and much more. Our service is free and confidential! We invite you to contact us during our open hours, you can also make an appointment!

Social counselling is free of charge and confidential! You can reach us by phone, email, online message or in person. Feel free to drop by without an appointment at either of our locations during open counselling hours, or make an individual appointment with us.

Our offers. We...

  • provide information about job seeking, accommodation, medical and other general insurances as well as student discounts and benefits.
  • offer counseling regarding student financial aid, e.g. student loans, scholarships, emergency funds, ALG II (unemployment pay), child benefits, housing assistance and child support as well as special benefits for students with disabilities or chronic diseases, and students with children
  • help with decision making regarding personal problems and conflicts, difficulties organizing your daily life and your curriculum or requests to change your field of studies or switch universities.
  • help you find solutions for pressing financial problems, emergencies and outstanding debts.
  • help you choose the right day care option for your child and find a flat suitable for families.
  • provide advice regarding studying with disabilities or a chronic disease.
  • assist with questions regarding work permit and right of residence, filling out forms and applications or communication problems with the respective authorities.
  • inform you about local structures, e.g. counseling options, self-help groups, student initiatives and networks.
  • put you in contact with external counselling services for further support if required.
  • support the comeTOgether office. It is an information and counseling service provided by students for students at the TU and h_da. They are a port for communication and counseling on all questions concerning studying and living in Darmstadt.

Accessibility:

The elevator is located on the left side of the foyer of Otto-Berndt-Halle. Social counseling service is located on the first floor above the Bistro in rooms 104, 119 and 120. The rooms are accessible with wheelchairs.
