Back-up Child Care
In co-operation with TU Darmstadt and h_da, the Studierendenwerk funds various projects that aim to facilitate the compatibility of studying and family life. For emergencies and exceptional circumstances we offer:
Ad-hoc care for children of students
Exceptional circumstances and you are having trouble to find a child care option on short notice? Student parents can sign up their children between ages 1-12 years for child care at “Fluggis-Abenteuer-Land” on short notice.
The service
Parents who have a student ID can sign up their children for back-up child care when
- the private primary child care is temporarily unavailable
- the day care or kindergarten is closed
- during school vacations
- parents by way of exception need to study or work extra time beyond the operating hours of regular child care.
Experienced caregivers as well as a team of trainees in the field of day care, students of respective fields of study and carefully selected helpers will take care of children between ages 1-12 years in child friendly facilities (service for younger children is available upon request).
Opening hours: Monday to Friday from 06:00 to 22:00 hrs, including weekdays public holidays, year round.

Back-up childcare is free of charge for students of TU and h_da.
In case you are not able to attend a previously scheduled appointment, please make sure to cancel it until 22 hrs the day before. Otherwise your booking causes unnecessary costs for which a cancellation fee will be charged. Thank you for your understanding.
