Discontinuation of event management from 01.07.2024

Dear guests, Unfortunately, we at Studierendenwerk Darmstadt are also affected by the current changes in the world of work. In university catering in particular, we have been confronted with major challenges for some time now: Staff turnover, a shortage of skilled workers, labour shortages and shrinking catering budgets are just some of the difficulties we have to face. These circumstances also require personnel changes in our events department. As a result, we have decided to discontinue our out-of-home catering from 1 July and not to continue renting out our premises as before. We had to make this decision because our previous structure tied up a lot of staff and was associated with a risk of underfunding. With the changed framework conditions, it would not be possible for us to offer our customers the usual and expected service in future.

We are currently working on a concept that will allow you, our customers and guests, to purchase some of our items from the regular bistro range. The popular meals on account will also remain available for you in the usual form. We will discontinue the hire of crockery, cutlery and glasses.

We regret this adjustment to our offer, but we are convinced that this will better serve both our customers and our employees. In times of stagnating state support and simultaneously increasing demands, we must focus on our core task: social support for the 38,000 students at TU Darmstadt and Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences.
