It pays to apply!
It is especially important for first-year students to submit their initial BAföG application as early as possible so that they can also receive funding from the beginning of the semester.
Therefore, our advice to first-year students: Do not apply for BAföG only at the beginning of the courses!
The 27th amendment to the BAföG law will come into effect on 01.08.2022. Among other things, we will receive some changes to the maximum funding rate, the allowances for parental income, own assets and the age at the start of studies. More here.
The Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG) has been opening up educational opportunities for young people since 1971. BAföG supports students in pursuing studies that match their aptitudes and interests, depending on their family's financial situation.
