Ökoprofit

To improve our environmental performance, we have decided to participate in the ÖKOPROFIT programme in 2019.

ÖKOPROFIT ® stands for "ÖKOlogisches PROjekt Für Integrierte Umwelt-Technik"; an action-oriented programme that supports companies in their "energy, environmental and sustainability management".

With the Mensa Stadtmitte location and the adjoining office buildings of the branch office and head office, Studierendenwerk took part in the "ECOPROFIT ® FrankfurtRhineMain 2020" entry-level programme. Over twelve months, the ECOPROFIT team trained and accompanied us. In addition to providing working materials, the team organised face-to-face workshops (in front of Corona) and online events on environmental law, policy and business organisation topics.

Central to this was the formulation of an environmental policy and the development of an individual environmental programme, which we implemented on a company-specific basis based on a jointly developed action plan. For the Mensa Stadtmitte, this plan includes, among other things, the introduction of waste separation in the guest area and the gradual conversion to LED lighting. The temperature increase of beverage cold stores and server cooling by 2 °C should also achieve an annual electricity saving of approx. 6,800 kWh.

The Mensa Stadtmitte has been an award-winning ECOPROFIT company since October 2020.

Our next goal is to have the Lichtwiese refectory certified as an Ökoprofit company in 2021 in order to systematically increase the potential in energy, environmental and sustainability management there as well.
