DAAD-Award for our tutor Thierno Tiddia Sow
ITT tutor - who was part of the team from the outset - is honored for his longtime commitment for international students
17.10. | In the context of his commitment for international students, Thierno Tiddia Sow achieved something outstanding and got the DAAD award 2017 at the Hochschule Darmstadt. This award appreciates outstanding study achievements as well as special social, societal and university commitment. We are pleased about his award and that his long time efforts are recognized. Congratulations!
Thierno took a leading role at many ITT events and he was a fixture in our intercultural tutors team. Time and again his motivation showed, when trying to improve the situation for international students and to facilitate their beginning of studies and life in Germany. His own experience - when he started his studies in Darmstadt - were and are an important part of that motivation.
In addition, Thierno acted as a trainer in the competence center of the Hochschule Darmstadt (h_da) and he gave tutorials focused on “applied geography Africa” at the AStA (student parliament). Furthermore, he is a member of the central committee that allocates resources to assure quality for studies and teaching (QSL resources) at the h_da.
Thierno comes from Western African Guinea and will successfully finish his master studies at the h_da this semester. He is fluent in four different languages and has gotten involved with students since 2010 – as a students’ residence tutor. Since 2013, he has been part of the ITT team.
The ITT team and colleagues in the department of “counseling and social affairs” of the Studierendenwerk are pleased about the long-lasting successful collaboration and wish him all the best for the future.
As a trainer with an “IHK” certificate he offers workshops this winter seemester – presumably for the last time – the popular Excel and LaTeX Workshops! Opportunities to visit those are on the 28th/29th of October (Workshop Excel with VBA in German) and on 18th/19th on November (Workshop LaTeX in English).
