Photo competition

Prizes of a total of 1,500 euros await the winners.

We are looking for creative – possibly unconventional – pictures that deal with the following questions:

What is the meaning of diversity for you? What experiences and challenges regarding diversity do you want to share with us? How you deal with the topic is – of course – up to you. It can be positive or you can have a critical approach to the subject.

Workshops for Intercultural Competence and Communication

In our globalised world, “Intercultural Competence“ has become a key qualification in professional as well as private life. Especially in an academic context - where more and more international students are studying at German universities – it is even more important. The subdivision “Intercultural Affairs” of the Studierendenwerk offers training and workshops for students and employees studying and/or working in an academic context.

Studium+M

The project “Vielfalt leben – vom Ihr zum WIR” aims to facilitate co-operation based on the potential the students/prospective students with migration background can contribute to society so that diversity can be experienced as something of value. This facilitates change towards an open society and equality of opportunities.

Events

Every semester we offer a variety of events. There are excursions, workshops, museum visits and cultural events, company tours, parties or barbecues, sports events, and information on events from our cooperation-partners and friends. Check it out, you will surely find something that interests you.

Intercultural Tutors Team

The Intercultural Tutors Team (ITT) consists of students of different origins from all around the world, who are contact persons for all new students in Darmstadt. The aim is to help new students having a good and stress-free transition into their studies and life in Darmstadt. In order to achieve this, ITT provides a variety of leisure time activities, cultural and social events as well as support with formalities. Furthermore, ITT offers to accompany international students to the authorities and helps with possible language difficulties.

Foreigners become Friends

We – IGeM and the Studierendenwerk – bring together international students and hosts from Darmstadt and the surrounding area for intercultural exchange. During hiking tours and social events people can get to know each other, socialize, and exchange experiences.

Funding for Cultural Projects

You are a student who wants to host a party for other students? You would like to organize an event? Make an art exhibition? You are a group of students and would like to organise cultural activities outside of your studies? The Studierendenwerk Darmstadt supports you among other things with financial contributions. Some information is only available in German, but you can always contact us and we will help you understand it.
